This page provides information on Studietrust's access bursaries. A prospective student only has to submit one single application form. Each application will automatically be considered for all the bursaries for which a particular applicant qualifies. That means that an application for e. g. an FNB Fund bursary will also be considered for a Studietrust access bursary and vice versa.

Applicants are invited for the following types of access bursaries:
  School bursaries (Grades 9-12)
  Agricultural College bursaries
  FET College bursaries
  University of Technology bursaries
 
University bursaries

The funds for granting these bursaries are provided by the contributions of inidvidual donors and the following trusts, foundations, private companies/businesses and churches/congregations:

SCHOOL BURSARIES (Grades 9-12)
Who can apply: All South African learners from Grades 9 – 12
Preference is given to learners from rural areas with Mathematics and Physical Science as subjects. 
Studietrust awards partial bursaries based on academic merit and financial need.
Annual closing date: 31 August - for requesting application forms. Follow this link for information on the application procedure.
 
BURSARIES FOR STUDY AT AGRICULTURAL COLLEGES
Who can apply: SA citizens interested in full-time diploma studies at any recognised South African Agricultural College.  Applicants should have Matric or an NSC with diploma endorsement with Maths.
Preference is given to:
  • applicants from rural areas
  • applicants who already completed an NSC or already matriculated who are not yet registered at a college
  • current Grade 12 learners intending to register at a college.

BURSARIES FOR STUDY AT FURTHER EDUCATION & TRAINING (FET) COLLEGES
Study programmes:
1.         Business and General Study Programmes:
Secretarial/Administrative; Financial/Business/Marketing Management; Educare; Tourism; Catering/Food/Hospitality Services; Human Resource Management, etc.
2.         Engineering Programmes:    
All Engineering programmes including Mechanical/Electrical Engineering; Boilermaking; Plumbing; Diesel Mechanics; Building and Construction, etc.
Who can apply: SA citizens interested in full-time studies towards a NSC (Vocational).
Preference is given to:
  • applicants from rural areas
  • applicants who already completed an NSC or already matriculated who are not yet registered at a college
  • current Grade 12 learners intending to register at a college.

BURSARIES FOR STUDY AT UNIVERSITIES OF TECHNOLOGY

Who can apply: SA citizens interested in full-time studies at any South African University of Technology.
Preference is given to:
  • applicants from rural areas
  • applicants who already completed an NSC or already matriculated who are not yet registered at a university of technology
  • current Grade 12 learners intending to register at a university of technology.
Studietrust awards partial bursaries based on academic merit and financial need.
Preferred study areas:
  • Agriculture, Horticulture, Nature Conservation
  • Building and Construction
  • Chemistry (Science)
  • Commerce (Accounting, Banking, Cost & Management Accounting, Financial Management, Internal Auditing, etc)
  • Education
  • Engineering – all programmes
  • Environmental Health
  • Information Technology
  • Logistics
  • Marketing
  • Office Management and Technology
  • Public Management/Relations
  • Town & Regional Planning
  • Travel, Tourism, Hospitality, Food Services

BURSARIES FOR UNIVERSITY STUDY
Studietrust awards access bursaries to prospective or current degree students at South African universities.
Selection criteria:
Studietrust may award bursaries to students in any field of study, but students studying towards degrees in the following fields will get preference:
·         Agriculture
·         Commerce
·         Education
·         Engineering
Preference is further given to:
  • applicants from rural areas
  • applicants with matric/NSC Maths and Science
  • applicants with at least a “D” symbol or 4 on the NSC scale of achievement in English second language HG or English First Additional Language. 
  • Applicants with an NSC or matric waiting for a study opportunity
  • current Grade 12 learners intending to study at a university
